Wetsuit patterned like lionfish to deter sharks

Lionfish rashguard

A company has created a line of rashguards and wetsuits patterned like venomous fish to “reduce your chance of being attacked by a shark!” Boatstogo.com has created what they call a shark repellant rash guard by mimicking the patterns of the venomous lionfish.

“I seriously doubt that will work,” shark ecologist Bradley M. Wetherbee told National Geographic. The website makes no claims to have tested the rashguards. However, they do conclude the product page with this statement:

While we can’t guarantee that wearing our Rash Guard will make you totally invisible to sharks, there is a good probability that your already slim chance of being bitten by this predator might become even slimmer.”

Fair enough.
