NG publishes 17 of David Doubilet’s images for World Oceans Day
National Geographic has published 17 of underwater photographer David Doubilet’s most “jaw-dropping” images as well as an interview in honor of World Oceans Day. Doubilet, widely considered one of the most influential underwater photographers of all time, had his first image published in National Geographic magazine in 1972. It is fitting to choose the images of such a well respected photographer as a window into the ocean on this day.
Oceans Day 2016
Profusions of vibrant marine life cover this reef in a vivid bouquet of colors in Komodo, Indonesia. Today is World Oceans Day, a day earmarked to both celebrate the oceans and to encourage collaboration to preserve them for the future. The theme for 2016 is “Healthy Oceans, Healthy Planet”, with an aim of reducing plastic pollution.
