Petapixel reports that the firmware update version 2.1 that Sony released today for the a7 III and a7R III cameras fixes the issues that were inherent with version 2.0 that was released in October. The earlier version was found to cause data loss in some specific circumstances and was removed from Sony’s update server shortly after it was released.

Sony recommends that all a7 III and a7R III users update to version 2.1 as soon as possible. The a7 III firmware is available for Windows and Mac with that for the a7r III also available for Windows and Mac.
