Alex Mustard port tests on Wetpixel

Wetpixel Associate Editor Alex Mustard has been experimenting with an optical corrector port for wide-angle underwater photography. His is posting the results of his tests with the new prototype in a thread on the forum.

He writes that it is his intention:

….to use it on my full frame SLR to give me improved image quality - especially corner sharpness when using non-fisheye wide angle lenses.

It is important to stress that at this stage, there are no commercial versions available yet. Alex has had the prototype custom built. It consists of an “underwater corrector” built by Carl Zeiss and then custom adapted for his housing by Pete Ladell. Alex will be updating his forum post regularly so please check back soon.
